REGULATIONS RELATING TO ENERGY USE

Building regulations (part L) require that all new houses:

  • Meet regulations relating to energy use, conserving fuel and energy.
  • Built to a carbon zero, or nearly carbon zero standard.
  • Limiting heat loss, where appropriate, availing of heat gain through the fabric of the building.
  • A building shall be designed and constructed to ensure the energy performance of the building will limit the amount of energy required for the operation of the building, reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
